Who this course is for:

What you’ll learn:

  • Students will learn how to switch meditation for drawing and become more mindful.
  • You will look at 3 different techniques to see what works for you.
  • This course will take 2-3 hours, so you have plenty of opportunities to try all sorts of different styles.
  • You will take these different techniques with you beyond the course, make them your own, and see what works for you.

Requirements:

  • You will need pencils – 2H, 2B, 8B
  • You will need paper – something similar to printing paper
  • Option for a biro or fine liner
  • Option for circular shapes from tape to tea-lights
  • Something with a straight edge – a ruler or edge of a pencil

China will show you how to create your artworks and how you can relax during the process. All of these exercises are designed to remove the pressure and any expectation of needing to be a professional artist as anyone can achieve the same results. You cannot go wrong! What You’ll Do

Follow the video tutorials to learn how to shade, draw and relax using effective calming techniques. You’ll learn how to apply simple rules to different drawing styles in order to create a mindful creative experience. Don’t forget to share your artwork with your classmates in the project gallery so we can see how you got on!

  • Shading. This technique focuses on the most simplistic forms so that you can draw whenever, wherever you want! If you are travelling, or bored, and you don’t want a reference image, you can create simple shapes and use shading as a way to switch off and focus.
  • Mandala Drawing. In this lesson, you will learn the origins of spiritual mandala drawing and how you can create your own or copy China’s! Make sure you set a pattern and repeat it all the way around the circle to get completely lost and carefree in this drawing. For an extra level, you can add a dark biro to make your drawing really pop.
  • Mindful Mountains. Drawing from nature is one of the most calming and joyful experiences you can do. Nature is medicine, and so we have created an easy technique for you to draw from nature and simplify the landscape. A very satisfying and beautiful technique.
