Hello and greetings! In this course, we embark on painting The Twelve Apostles, an iconic Australian landscape, employing a diverse range of wet-in-wet and wet-in-dry techniques. The interplay of soft and sharp shapes in watercolors poses challenges during the learning process.Â
Wet-in-wet painting is often linked with a loss of control, but fear not—I’ll guide you in understanding the crucial element of timing. Learn to gain control and layer effectively, crafting soft textures like shrubs and grass while accentuating rocks and waves with sharp highlights. It’s simpler than you may think! Wet-in-wet techniques unveil watercolor’s innate strengths, fundamental for your artistic journey. Crafting fine details is pivotal when depicting trees, rocks, and grass, instilling contrast and interest. Knowing the opportune moment to incorporate these details is equally vital.
Before delving into the painting process, I’ll demonstrate how to streamline shapes and sketch significant elements such as sky, water, shadows, trees, grass, and land. Accurately capturing these large components beforehand is imperative for your painting to cohesively come together. Welcome to an enriching artistic journey!
